Kell Brook Stabbed in the leg whilst holidaying in Spain

IBF world welterweight champion Kell Brook has been stabbed in the leg while on holiday in Tenerife. Brook is said to be in stable condition, as family and friends have gone to visit the British boxer in hospital. Brook’s stabbing comes just weeks after boxer Jamie Moore was shot in both legs while in Marbella. “Special K” was on vacation with his wife on the Spanish Island and is said to have sustained the wound at 6AM this morning.

The Sheffield native was involved in a scuffle out on the town, echoing his 2007 stabbing that followed a party in his hometown. A spokeswoman for the local police said that “He lost a lot of blood”. Brook was last seen in action winning his world title with a gritty decision over Shawn Porter on August 16th 2014.

Brook was expected to fight fellow Brit Amir Khan in what would be Britains biggest title fight in decades. Dominic Ingle, Brook’s coach, told the BBC what he feels on the shocking incident:

“We’ve been through a lot together, me and Kell, and receiving the news this morning hit me in the pit of my stomach. It’s a sickening feeling. I think he’s stable, his mum and dad’s gone out today to see him in hospital. He’s a fighter Kell, we don’t know the extent of his injuries but whichever way, knowing Kell, he’ll try and make that date [in December] if he can.”

In case you haven’t heard of Kell Brook, he is an undefeated (33-0 22 knockouts) IBF world welterweight champion. He has two wins over Carson Jones, has beaten Matt Hatton, Vyiacheslav Senchenko, and Alvero Robles among others. He is a fan favorite in Britain, and was the heavy underdog when he faced Shawn Porter in his home country of America last month.
