Reigning WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is just two weeks removed from his latest win, and has been booked in for his next title defense. Having scored a TKO win over Daniel Geale in the Square, GGG has been scheduled to duke it out with WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio. Gennady Golovkin will face Marco Antonio Rubio in October

Last five fights for Gennady Golovkin: Danny Geale rd 3 TKO win, Osumanu Adama rd 7 TKO win, Curtis Stevens rd 8 TKO win, Matthew Macklin rd 3 KO win, Nobuhiro Ishida rd 3 KO win

“God Of War” has been dominant in his career to date, racking up a 30-0 record with 27 coming within the distance. The 32-year old Kazakh is a former Olympian, and defeated Andre Dirrell en route to his silver medal at the 2004 games in Athens. Having only ever let three fights go the distance, Gennady Golovkin is being touted for very big things.

Lat five fights for Marco Antonio Rubio: Domenico Spada rd 10 KO win, Dinisio Miranda rd 2 KO win, Marcus Upshaw UD win, Michael Rosales rd 11 TKO win, Carlos Baldomir retired rd 4.

The WBC interim champion “Veneno” has only lost once in five years, and looks to be still in his prime at age 34. The rough and ready body puncher has put in some thoroughly gutsy performances, and the show that he and Julio Cesar Chavez  Jr put on was epic to say the least. The Mexican native certainly has his work cut out fighting the surging GGG.

Golovkin vs Rubio will go down on October 18, in the StubHub Center, Carson, California, and will certainly be one to watch. Should he win, the sky would be the limit for the Kazakh Olympian, equally though, a win for his Mexican counterpart would be huge at this stage.
