Derby County was always fond of their striker Russell and they did a lot to keep him with them. His contract with Derby was coming to an end and had less than 2 years left. Thus new contracts started to come for him but Derby ties him down with a new contract themselves. This one is a 3 year contract and with this contract they will be able to keep Russell till then of 2018 season (summer).

Johnny Russell has had a very good start to the season and he has earned his new deal. He performed well in pre-season and it’s pleasing that he has taken that form into the season itself.Johnny continually shows a willingness to learn and improve, which is always pleasing to see. Johnny is a popular member of the dressing room and he’s also someone that the fans regard very highly, so it’s pleasing to see him commit his future by signing the contract we put to him,” – said the head coach of Derby Paul Clement.

Russell came to Derby in 2013 and is been playing well from then on for Derby and thus Derby is very much interested to keep him. His good performance in the club even got him a call on the National team and he is about to debut against England.

We hope he will have an extremely good future with derby.
