Angel Di Maria Says He Was Forced To Leave Real Madrid

In an open letter to Real Madrid fans, newly signed Manchester United star Angel Di Maria claims he was forced out of his former club. As well as this, the world class international winger levels accusations of deceit at his former club. Di Maria recently signed to a £60 Million deal with the Red Devils, and Real had claimed that the move was welcomed by both parties.

In a rather stark contrast to what was first believed to be an amicable departure from Real Madrid to Manchester United, Angel Di Maria has blown the lid on his former club. In an open letter to his fans in Spain, the Argentine international says that he was lied to and forced to leave Real. Check it out:

“My cycle at Real Madrid has come to an end,” he wrote. “It’s impossible to capture everything I’ve experienced here in a few lines but I hope this letter communicates what I feel at the moment. Unfortunately I have to go but I want to make clear that this was never my desire. Like anyone who works, I’ve always wanted to progress.”

“After winning La Decima (tenth Champions League) I went to the World Cup with the hope of receiving a gesture from the board, which never arrived. Many things and many lies were told. Someone may not like me. The only thing I asked for was something fair. There are many things that I value and many of them have nothing to do with my salary. I hope to find them at Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Although he still has hard feelings about leaving the Spanish giants Real Madrid, Di Maria goes on to express his happyness about playing at Old Trafford:

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United,” Di Maria told the club’s official website. “United is the only club that I would have left Real Madrid for. Louis van Gaal is a fantastic coach with a proven track record of success and I am impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top – where it belongs.”

Unfortunately for Louis Van Gaal and Man Utd, they lost a 4-0 League cup tie to MK Dons on the same day that they confirmed Di Maria as their latest signing. The bottom line is that the Argentine winger is a United man now, but will he make the much needed change that Man U are so desperately in need of?
