Defending champions will have to get their act together and perform in this must win game against Chile which where they can not afford to drop points. Chile on other hand can book their place in the next round if they can win this game and Holland defeat Australia.

Spain can afford to lose this game while Chile can book their place in the first knockout round with a win against Spain, which give massive importance to this game specialy if Holland manage to Australia earlier in theday. Vicente Del Bosque will surely make a few changes in this game while Chile are likely to go with the same starting lineup.

Spain 2014 World CUp LogoSpain Team News:

Spain started with Diego Costa in the first game against Holland apart from him diving to win the penalty, he was not at the same wave length as other players, So I can expect him to be replaced with either Pedro or David Villa. Cesc Fabregas might also start in the game and Andreas Iniesta might be moved out wide on the left.

ChileChile Team news:

I can’t see any change from the winning XI which out played Australia for large part of the game. Only concern is Vidal’s fitness as he only lasted 60 minutes against Australia.

Possible Starting Lineups:

These are the expected lineups for both sides in the upcoming game, Iniesta to move out left while Pedro to play alongside Costa or David Villa.

Spain vs Chile Key Stats & Predictions:

Chile has never won against spain in the last 10 meetings, they lost 8 and drew two matches. Chile lost both of their meetings against Spain in world cups. Alexis Sanchez created or scored 7 of the last 8 goals chile has scored. Which goes to show he is their main man.

Spain are the only team in the world cup history who managed to win the world cup having lost their opening group game in 2010 against Switzerland. A defeat against Chile combined by Holland’s win against Australia will knockout Spain from the world cup.

I expect Diego Costa to be benched in this game and Cesc Fabregas, Xavi, Busques to start in central roles while Pedro, Iniesta and Villa playing upfront. I think spain can turn things around and get a win against Chile.
