VIDEO: Why Diego Schwartzman broke down after stunning Dominic Thiem at Argentina Open

Diego Schwartzam inched closer to winning the Argentina Open title after he pulled off an upset win over Dominic Thiem on Saturday. The No. 4 seed rallied from one set down to prevail 2-6 6-4 7-6(5) over the No. 1 seed.
And the local star couldn’t hide his emotions during the courtside interview as he remembered his late grandmother who had passed away just a month ago.
“I thank all the people who supported me and also my grandmother who died a month ago. It’s the first year I do not have any of my grandparents in Buenos Aires,” he was quoted as saying by bolamarela.
“A very big greeting to my parents, who have made a very big effort. My grandmother from my mother came to see me play. May I continue to give you joy.”
Earlier in the day, Schwartzman looked absolutely out of control as he committed as many as six double faults in the first set besides winning a pitiable 33 per cent of the points on his first serve.
He quickly regrouped to force a decider, where he showed nerves of steel to prevail in two hours and 31 minutes.
Schwartzman is scheduled to meet No. 3 seed Marco Cecchinato in the final on Sunday.
