Alexader Zverev and Roger Federer shared a funny moment following their Hopman Cup final on Sunday.

First, Federer cruised for a 6-4 6-2 win over Zverev. Then, Germany squared it up after Angelique Kerber pulled off a 6-4 7-6 win over Belinda Bencic.

In the deciding mixed doubles tie, Federer and Bencic then joined forces to prevail 4-0 1-4 4-3 over Zverev and Kerber to defend their title.

And during the presentation ceremony, Zverev couldn’t help lauding the 37-year-old Federer.

“First of all, congratulations to you guys again,” he said. “We as players, we’re all tired of you guys already, but what can we do?

“Especially you (Federer). I mean, you are 30-whatever. Why? Just why? Let us have one… just the Hopman Cup, man. Just once.”

No wonder, the crowd as well as Federer himself couldn’t stop laughing, much to the amusement of Zverev.

“What the hell are you laughing at right now?” Zverev questioned Federer, who put it all on his partner.

“What a nice guy, huh? I mean… Oh gosh.”

Meanwhile, the future of Hopman Cup is in dark as the mixed team event could possible be replaced with an ATP event from next year.
