He didn’t really make a comeback by the sweat of his brow. Yet, without finding a towel, he managed to get the sweat off his brow.

Pat Cash, a former Wimbledon champion who retired in 1997, made a comeback (of sorts) as he paired up with Coco Vandeweghe to represent America in Hopman Cup mixed doubles tie against Japan on Tuesday after Jack Sock pulled out due to an injury.

Despite putting up a fairly impressive performance, the 52-year-old landed himself in soup.

At the end of a point when Cash didn’t find a towel, he reacted by wiping his face off a lineswoman’s shoulder. Although, the official wore a wry smile, Twitterati didn’t find it funny.

“That guy should be suspended or something,” one user wrote. “This is so unethical. He should be thrown out of the match,” another wrote.

Another tweet read: “Just a very very poor attempt at being funny. An apology and signed shirt for the poor lady should suffice.”

Cash and Vandeweghe went on to lose 0-4 4-3 4-0 to Yuichi Sugita and Maddison Inglis.
