Mats Wilander may have retired from professional tennis back in 1996, but he’s still got it.

Now 54, Wilander participated in legends’ doubles event at the Australian Open, where he paired up with fellow Swede Thomas Enquist to lock horns with Goran Ivanisevic of of Croatia and Wayne Ferreira of South Africa in the first round encounter.

And, Wilander produced a moment of brilliance as he unleashed an unplayable backhand dropshot that came back in after pitching.

Wouldn’t that put the current stars to shame?

Wilander and Enquist went on to pull off a 4-3 4-1 win in just 36 minutes on Margaret Court Arena.

In the other legends’ match of the day, John and Patrick McEnroe defeated Michael Chang and Jacco Eltingh 4-3 4-2.

Once a tennis player, always a tennis player!
