Eugenie Bouchard is an outgoing and socially confident person, one may say. However, that just wasn’t the case after she won her first round of qualifying at the Wimbledon.

The Canadian tennis star perhaps put on her best performance in recent times as she hammered China’s Lin Zhu 6-0 6-2 to make a winning start in her quest to qualify for the main draw at the All England Club.

Despite the win, Bouchard was seemingly not in a great mood to hang around after her 51-minute victory as the 2014 finalist gave rather hurried answers to BBC during the on-court interview.

Reporter: Congratulations, Eugenie! It doesn’t get much better than that. Your assessment of the match?

Bouchard: Thank you. It was pretty solid.Reporter: How pleased were you with the way you started the game?

Bouchard: Pretty happy, it’s important on grass to start well.

Reporter: Your new coach Robert Lansdorp was watching you in the stands… what impact has he had on you?

Bouchard: He’s been really helpful; I think he’s a great coach.

Reporter: This is obviously a very special place for you, how hard has it been having been in a final there to come back and have to go through qualifying?

Bouchard: It’s not hard at all, I’m happy to be here.

As she walked away quickly at the end of interview, a commentator took notice of it as he said: “You’ll probably notice as she walked over she was not keen to do the interview.”

Bouchard will meet Karolina Muchova of Czech Republic in the second round of qualifying on Wednesday.
