Proceedings at the French Open were disrupted for a bizarre reason on Monday.

During the women’s singles first round match between Canada’s Bianca Andreescu and Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova, birds invaded the court all of a sudden.

Not only did the flock interrupt the play in the first set, but a perplexed Bouzkova pulled out of the rally midway. No wonder, her gesture conveyed what was going on (CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO).

Even as the play resumed soon after, the match had to be suspended for the day, with both players splitting the first two sets.

Bouzkova, who got into the main draw as a lucky loser, later took to Twitter to laugh off the incident.

“Hope NOT to see you again tomorrow, birds! Good night and thank you for the amazing support! #teamMary @rolandgarros,” she wrote.

This is not the first time birds have made their way to the court though.

Rafael Nadal’s match against Kyle Edmund at the Monte Carlo Masters 2017 was interrupted by a pigeon, much to the glee of spectators though (CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO).
