Victoria Azarenka has pulled out of this week’s WTA International event in Luxembourg due to ongoing family issues.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played since Wimbledon this year due to the battle with her estranged partner Billy McKeague over the custody of their son Leo.

Earlier, Azarenka, a former world No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion, had accepted a wildcard to participate in the $250,000 event.

The Belarusian, who featured in just two tournaments this season – Mallorca Open and Wimbledon – will now straight away return to the circuit in 2018.

Besides Azarenka, Czech star Barbora Strycova also withdrew, citing scheduling issues as she is slated to compete in the final of the WTA Linz event on Sunday.

“We’re sorry to inform that @BaraStrycova (schedule issues) and @vika7 (personal reasons) had to withdraw from the tournament,” the tournament wrote on its official Twitter handle.
