Ace tennis player Roger Federer is making steady recovery from a back injury ahead of the grass-court season, the Swiss superstar revealed.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion was invited to present the winners’ trophy at the Swiss Football League, where he updated his fans about the injury.

“My back is better than expected,” he said. “I keep trying to make progress to get back on tour.”

Federer, 34, was compelled to miss his first ever major after he pulled out of the ongoing French Open due to an upset back that has let him play just 15 matches this year.

The Swiss is scheduled to make his return at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart (June 6-12), before commencing his quest to win a record eighth title at Wimbledon (June 27 – July 10).
