Legendary American tennis player Andre Agassi has said that he’s already started missing Maria Sharapova play after the Russian tennis superstar was banned for two years for failing a drug test.

Sharapova, a former world number one and a five-time Grand Slam champion, was tested positive for a forbidden substance called Meldonium following the Australian Open in January this year, and is debarred from playing professional tennis until January 28, 2018.

However, Agassi insists that even as he would miss watching Sharapova play at the upcoming Rio Olympics, the integrity of the sport should be maintained regardless of the effort needed.

“It’s a complicated case,” Agassi told TennisCircus. “The integrity of sport is sacred and must be defended at all costs. It’s hard to believe. I’m sorry that Sharapova can’t participate in Rio. I miss her already.”

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Sharapova is making the most of her time off tennis by pursuing a trade-based course at the Harvard Business School.
