Top seed Simona Halep eased her way to the last-eight stage of the WTA Shenzhen Open 2015 in China after making light work of Natalia Vikhlyantseva in the second-round clash.

The fancied Romanian needed just over an hour to pull off a serene 6-2, 6-2 conquest of her little-known counterpart at the Centre Court on Wednesday.

“I’m happy that I played better than I did in the first round. I feel like my form is getting better and better day by day,” Halep was quoted as saying by WTA Tennis after her match.

Meanwhile, former World No. 2 Vera Zvonareva also made it to the quarterfinals, defeating qualifier Cagla Buyukakcay 6-3, 7-6 in the other second-round battle.
