Tennis is one sport which doesn’t have many players aged 40 or so. But Serena Williams can certainly play on for long, according to former World No. 4 Jelena Dokic.

Dokic, who retired in 2014, said that Williams, 35, is competent of adding on to her 22 Grand Slams and that she should not be written off anytime soon.

“You can never count her out. She’s No. 2 in the world still. She was No. 1 in the last few years,” Dokic was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.

“She’s 35 but I feel she can play until she’s 40. She’s incredible. She’s got an unbelievable game. She’s got a big game. And I think she can still continue winning Grand Slams.”

Dokic added that despite being the second seed (Angelique Kerber is the No. 1 seed) at the next week’s Australian Open, Williams is the favourite to win her seventh major Down Under.

“She’s still the favourite. She’s always the favourite for me. She’s a 22 Grand Slam winner,” she opined.

The main draw of the Australian Open 2017 is scheduled to get under way on Monday.
