Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis Split – But Who Are Their New Partners?

The Indo-Swiss combination of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis has parted ways after a successful doubles allegiance that spanned for about 17 months.

The duo had joined forces back in March last year and went on to win 14 titles including three Grand Slam triumphs, which saw them not only impose dominance in the doubles circuit but also peak to the numero uno position in the world rankings.

However, their recent results have not been as convincing, which seems to be the driving factor behind their split.

“Perhaps, because of our great past results, we have had very high expectations from our partnership and unfortunately did not get the results we desired recently,” admitted Mirza, who has failed to win a title alongside Hingis in their last four tournaments.

“The professional decision has not and will not in any way affect the wonderful personal relationship that we continue to share,” she added.

Mirza and Hingis, however, will pair up once again to defend their WTA Finals trophy in Singapore, where they had emerged victorious last year without dropping a set all through.

According to media reports, Mirza will join hands with Czech Republic’s Barbora Strycova, whereas Hingis will partner American Coco Vandeweghe at the upcoming US Open.

There has been no official confirmation from the any of the players as yet.
