Roger Federer: ‘My Game is Good Enough to Win Wimbledon’

It’s been pretty long since Roger Federer last pulled off a Grand Slam title. He’s always been one of the favourites at the majors, but a winless journey in the last 11 Slams has compelled many to think if the 17-time champion will ever be able to add on to his tally.

But, the 33-year-old is all geared up to gainsay his critics as he feels that his game can get him through at the prestigious Wimbledon Championships that begins Monday.

“One of the reasons I’m on tour is trying to win the big tournaments like Wimbledon,” Federer was quoted as saying by talksport. “I think my game is good enough to win it, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise or shock to me,” he continued.

“Although, of course, I know how hard it is. I’ve been there many times, so I know what it takes. And that belief and experience is only going to help me.”

Federer, seeded second behind Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, is slated to kick-start his bid for a record eighth crown at the renowned All England Club against little-known Bosnian-Herzegovinian Damir Dzumhur in the opening round.
