Swiss legends Roger Federer and Martina Hingis, who share 33 Grand Slam titles between them, will join hands for the mixed doubles event at the next year’s Rio Olympics in Brazil.

“Federer will play with Hingis. It’s decided,” corroborated a report in Swiss newspaper Le Matin Dimanche.

Stanislas Wawrinka, who was the other contender to partner Hingis, is now projected to play along with 18-year-old Belinda Bencic as the other mixed doubles pair from the country.

Meanwhile, Federer and Wawrinka will be joining forces for the men’s doubles event. Having pulled off the gold medal together at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the duo will look to live up to the billing yet again.

Interestingly, Swiss Davis Cup captain Severin Luethi said that a clean sweep or a triumph in all the events would certainly be viable for their contingent.
