French tennis star Lucas Pouille, who has been averse to the proposed changes to Davis Cup format, has demanded more and more players to speak up against the International Tennis Federation (ITF) plans.

The ITF recently announced its intentions to trim down the rubbers to three sets and the tournament be played in a single city throughout a span of one week. The proposed changes, however, haven’t gone well with many, including Pouille.

“My idea is to have as many players as possible to speak about it,” the 24-year-old was quoted as saying by Express.co.uk.

Pouille, who help his country advance to the World Group semi-finals by winning both his singles rubbers again Italy over the weekend, further said that it’s not just up to bigwigs of the sport like Roger Federer to take any decisions alone.

“Maybe Roger Federer won’t play for 15 more years… this is the truth,” he went on.

“With due respect for Roger, and he knows that I have a lot, I would say that he is towards the end of his career.

“So I don’t know if it will be up to him to take the decision.”
