Roger Federer including former tennis superstar Ivan Ljubicic to his coaching team is a great decision and that it could help the Swiss taste more success in the times to come, believes former Australian Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis.

“Ivan is a very intelligent person,” Baghdatis was quoted as saying by ubitennis. “Ivan loves tennis, had been on tour for many years, he played so great, was no. 3 in the world. He played and won big tournaments and my opinion is that theirs is a winning combination.”

The 30-year-old Baghdatis, a former Top 10 player himself, further insisted that the alliance could not only help the Swiss maestro add on to his 17 Grand Slam tally, but also find him ways to tackle World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who has been Federer’s toughest competitor in the recent times.

“I’m sure that will help Federer and I think the goal is to find ways to beat Novak Djokovic,” asserted the Cypriot. “Federer can [gain] help from a tactical perspective, to be able to beat Novak and win more Grand Slam tournaments. I am convinced that they will succeed.”

Meanwhile, Federer has kicked-off the 2016 season in style, having made it to the finals of the Brisbane International. Seeded number one at the tournament, he’s scheduled to lock horns with Canadian Milos Raonic in the Sunday’s summit clash here.
