Novak Djokovic: I Can Surpass Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer’s Grand Slam Record

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is confident of surpassing the Grand Slam records of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, as he aims to extend his dominance in the tennis circuit. Djokovic, who pulled off his 11th title at the Australian Open this year, only trails Nadal (14) and Federer (17) among the active players.

“I would lie if I said I do not think I can do it,” he told mundodeportivo, when asked if he feels he can chase his top nemesis in major titles. “I really think I can do it and I can get a lot in my career. But see, sometimes if you just go after so much, it can be a distraction and you can lose your concentration.

“So I just try to stay healthy. I am 29 years old and never will be too young for a tennis player. But, I really want to play for many more years. So, while enjoying tennis, hopefully I can continue at this level and have opportunities to win many titles.”

Djokovic has certainly been the most dominant tennis player in the last few years. This is evident from the fact that he has won 10 off the last 21 Grand Slam titles, when Nadal has won five and Federer could only manage to win one during the same period.

Moreover, with the kind of purple patch he’s going through, it shouldn’t come as a surprise should the Serb succeed in getting past the 17 Slam record in the near future!
