Having won 9 off the previous 10 French Open titles, Rafael Nadal has proved time and again as to why he’s better known as the ‘King of Clay. However, his supremacy won’t subsist this year, insists his top-ranked adversary Novak Djokovic, who has set his sight upon winning the elusive crown this time around.

Djokovic, a two-time Roland Garros finalist (2012, ’14), said that his biggest priority is to pull off his maiden crown on the red dirt this season and that he intends to use his past defeats as a learning curve to reciprocate in a triumphant manner.

“The highest priority is the French Open,” Djokovic was quoted as per saying by The Times of India. “The French Open of course is the Grand Slam I’ve never won. But I’ve had a lot of good tournaments there. I played a couple times the finals there, got a step closer.

“I use the losses as a way to grow mentally, physically and emotionally as a player so I can understand what I need to do better,” he added.

The second Grand Slam of the year is scheduled to run from May 24 to June 7 in Paris.
