Not Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic the Perfect Tennis Player: Rafael Nadal

17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is widely regarded as a ‘perfect’ tennis player. But Rafael Nadal, one of his biggest on-court adversaries, doesn’t second that, as he believes that World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is the most perfect tennis player he has ever seen.

This comes after the Spaniard suffered a brutal 6-1 6-2 thrashing at the hands of Djokovic in the title-clash of Qatar Open in Doha on Saturday. Sporty as always, Nadal heaped rich praise on his ‘perfect’ Serbian counterpart in the post-match presentation.

“I played against a player who did everything perfect,” admitted Nadal, who now trails Djokovic 24-23 for the first time in his career. “I know nobody playing tennis like this ever. Since I know this sport, I never saw somebody playing at this level.

“When I say perfect, it’s not one thing in particular. It’s everything. If not, it’s not perfect.”

Meanwhile, Djokovic – who recorded his 60th triumph on the ATP World Tour – had a similar observation on his form.

“It did feel as close to perfection as it could get,” he opined. “From the first to last point I managed to impose my own tactical strategy. I came out on the court with the right intention, right intensity, and with a great deal of confidence I carried from the last season.”
