Czech Republic’s Jiri Vesely claimed his first singles title on the ATP World Tour after defeating Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the final of the Heineken Open 2015 in Auckland.

63rd-ranked Vesely fired 11 aces en route a 6-3 6-2 triumph over his higher-ranked nemesis in the ultimate battle that lasted for an hour and 7 minutes on Saturday.

“It feels amazing to be part of the ATP champions,” Vesely said after his breakthrough win, as quoted by the ATP World Tour. “It’s not something that everyone is to achieve, so I’m very grateful for that.

“It’s a great start for me. I can really see that it’s possible to play with the best guys and I think that’s something very important for me for the future.”

Meanwhile, last week’s finalists in Chennai, Leander Paes and Raven Klaasen, won the doubles title after making light work of Dominic Inglot and Florin Mergea 7-6 6-4 in the summit clash.
