Rafael Nadal has always enjoyed fierce competition and intense on-court rivalry with Roger Federer that began from the mid 2000s. Turn to a decade later, Novak Djokovic also joined Federer and Nadal to form the ‘Big Three’ who would dominate the men’s circuit in the last decade or so.

While the Federer-Nadal rivalry has become one of the most interesting competitions in the history of the sport, the Nadal-Djokovic rivalry has augmented to the pinnacle of late and is cruising to be the other remarkable on-court enmity.

Asked if who he likes to play more, Nadal told TOI: “Well, you know, with Federer, the things are more clear. Both of us, we play within a strategy. There is a little bit more combination of styles that makes the match always special and the people get involved.

“So, I enjoy with both but if I had to choose one (between Federer and Djokovic), because of that combination of style, I would have to say Federer.”

This, however, didn’t come as a surprise, for the numbers act as a testimony to Nadal’s statement. While he enjoys a dominating 23-11 head-to-head record against Federer, the Spaniard has come across a stronger competition in Djokovic, with whom he shares a 23-23 record.
