I consider myself one of the best grass-court players: Nick Kyrgios

Nick Kyrgios may not be playing the best tennis of his life, but that hasn’t deterred the controversial Australian from bragging about his Wimbledon chances.
Kyrgios skipped the recently-concluded French Open after claiming the tournament “sucks” when compared to Wimbledon. Going a step further, he has now revealed he considers himself one of the best players ever on grass… on his day though.
“I feel like I’m one of the best grass-courters in the world on my day so I know that I can back myself under pressure on this surface,” the 24-year-old, who lost to Kei Nishikori in the third round last year, was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.
Then why is he yet to go past the quarter-finals at the All England Club? “Holding it together for two weeks mentally for me is tough,” he added.
“Wimbledon is the best tournament in the world. I feel like if you win Wimbledon, that’s the ultimate Slam.
“I want to be happy. I don’t know how many more Wimbledons I’ll play, I can’t take these for granted.”
Kyrgios, however, failed to back his words as he stumbled to a 3-6 4-6 defeat against Matteo Berrettini of Italy in the first round of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart.
He is scheduled to continue his Wimbledon preparations at the Fever-Tree Championships in London that will commence on June 17.
Wimbledon will get under way on July 1.
