Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov has signed up Franco Davin as his new coach, reports bolamarela. The 19th-ranked Dimitrov had ended his three-year partnership with Roger Rasheed earlier this year.

Davin, a former pro from Argentina who reached the quarter-finals of the 1991 French Open, is better known for coaching countryman Juan Martin del Potro to the 2009 US Open triumph. He also steered compatriot Gaston Gaudio to 2004 French Open conquest.

This comes after Dimitrov’s disappointing performance this season, where he possesses an appalling 27-17 record. Besides, the 24-year-old also failed to make the quarter-finals at any of the four Grand Slams this year.

Dimitrov, who last played at the US Open 2015 where he was shown the door as early as in the second round (lost to Mikhail Kukushkin), is scheduled to next compete at the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur that begins next week.
