Disappointment Continues for Eugenie Bouchard in Quebec City

Eugenie Bouchard’s substandard form continued at the WTA International event in Quebec City after she crashed out in the first round of the doubles event on Tuesday.

Partnering American Jessica Pegula, the duo accepted a wildcard into the double draw. But, their journey was cut short in the opening round by the third-seeded pairing of Alla Kudryavtseva and Alexandra Panova, losing 6-4 6-4 in the 70-minute battle.

For Bouchard, the defeat comes on the back her stunning first-round loss to Katerina Siniakova in the first round of the recently-concluded US Open 2016.

The 22-year-old, however, will look to live up to the expectations of the home crowd, when she begins her singles campaign against Mandy Minella on Wednesday.

Having been seeded No. 1 in the 32-player main draw, Bouchard will look to end her title-less streak this season and improvise on her 30-21 record in 2016.
