Nick Kyrgios, who has been playing without a coach since quite some time, has admitted the need of hiring one if he is to make further inroads in the professional circuit.

Currently ranked at career-best 15th position, Kyrgios has set his eyes upon breaking into the top-10 by next season. But for that, the 21-year-old understands the need of having a team.

“The barrier between the world number 15 and 10 is quite large; the top-10 players are on a different level so I think I need a team soon anyway,” he said, as quoted by

Quoting his experience from the US Open this year, where he withdrew due to hip injury, the wayward Australian accentuated the need of staying injury-free in order to realize his goals.

“I have a physio, but I’m definitely looking for a coach. I have to be able to stay healthy so that things like that happened in New York are not repeated,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Kyrgios is currently in China to participate at the ATP Chengdu Open. Seeded second, he is slated to meet either compatriot Jordan Thompson or South African Kevin Anderson in the opener.

The main draw of the tournament gets underway on Monday.
