Former World No. 1 tennis player, Carlos Moya, backed 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer to compete for two more years. 34-year-old Federer’s longevity has often been a topic of discussion even as he has shown no signs of slowing down.

Having winded up the season with an impressive 63-11 record that included multiple wins over top-ranked Serb Novak Djokovic, Federer garnered immense accolades for his continued success on court.

Moya, the former French Open champion, believes that it is his enjoyment that keeps him going.

“Roger Federer will still see a couple of years on court because he still enjoys competing and playing good tennis,” Moya was quoted as saying by “As a viewer and tennis lover, it’s good to see Federer,” added the 39-year-old.

‘Muguruza could be No. 1’

Spain’s Garbine Muguruza, who soared up to No. 3 in the women’s singles rankings by the virtue of her runner-up appearance at the Wimbledon Championships, also attracted praise from Moya, who backed her to be the top-ranked female in the near future.

“Without doubt, she (Muguruza) has the potential to be the World No. 1” he opined.
