Roger Federer has hinted at missing the next year’s French Open, for the third time in a row.

The Swiss maestro has been skipping the premier clay event since last two seasons to to stay afresh for the grass swing. And if his latest statement is anything to go by, the 20-time Grand Slam champion might as well take the same decision one more time .

Expressing confidence on winning his 21st Grand Slam title, Federer said: If I’m still playing, it’s because I believe I can win tournaments, beat the best and show that I can play at my best.

“The Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open will be great chances to win the 21st, but if it does not [happen], I’m ok with that.”

Reflecting on his glorious last couple of years, “It was a dream come true, I won three Majors and loved to get [to] 100 titles. The feeling I have is that I am capable.

“Of course the body needs to respond. I’m excited for what’s coming,” added the 37-year-old, who will return at next week’s ATP 500 event in Basel.
