It’s not unknown that Roger Federer shares a great relationship with some of his fellow tennis players. Apart from being quite close to Swiss teammate Stan Wawrinka, one may say he also shares a special bond with his top rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

But, but… the 20-time Grand Slam champion has revealed that he doesn’t share a great friendship on the ATP Tour for one reason: the hectic schedule.

“It’s very difficult to make friends in this environment because we usually stay in different hotels and we are always very busy. We have our staff around us,” the 36-year-old was quoted as saying by bolamarela.

Speaking of coping up with the perennial pressure that exists, “In a professional sport each one wants to be at his best level,” Federer said.

“For me things are different now, but when I started I also wanted to affirm myself, I tried to get to know the people, the central courts, the fans, how everything worked.

“After the pressure increases, the media demand results and you have to concentrate more, so well prepared doors for each tournament.

“Now I know what to expect, it’s easier now than when I started.”

Meanwhile, Federer, who has featured at just the Laver Cup since the US Open, is scheduled to return at next week’s Shanghai Masters.
