Just a couple of days after playing the final of the Madrid Masters, Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem squared off against each other again.

Competing in the doubles event of this week’s Italian Open in Rome, Zverev and his elder brother Mischa took on Thiem and his partner Steve Johnson in the first round.

And, there were fireworks all around as Thiem and Johnson went on to prevail 6-7 6-3 10-7 in one hour and 29 minutes.

Apart from the see-saw contest, there was something else that caught the attention too: a clash between Thiem and Zverev during a changeover in the first-set tiebreaker.

Seems like a friendly bump though!

Meanwhile, both Thiem and Zverev are scheduled to open their respective singles campaigns on Wednesday.

While Zverev, the No. 2 seed, will face Matteo Berrettini in the first round, 6th-seeded Thiem is slated to cross the swords with Fabio Fognini.
