American tennis player Ryan Harrison has thanked his fans after being cleared of racism by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

Harrison was accused of racially abusing countryman Donald Young during their first-round match at the New York Open last week.

The ATP, however, cleared Harrison of all accusations over the weekend after finding no evidence concerning racial abuse.

“This has been one of the most difficult weeks of my professional life, such an allegation can be career changing,” the 25-year-old wrote on his official Twitter handle.

“However I am grateful for the outpouring of support from my family, friends and fans.”

Meanwhile, Harrison will look to make a mark at this week’s Delray Beach Open, an ATP 250 event, scheduled to get under way on Monday.

He will take on compatriot Reilly Opelka in the first round on Tuesday.
