Novak Djokovic has knocked off tennis’s kings but doesn’t get the credit he deserves, insists former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash.

Djokovic has dominated the men’s circuit in the last few years, winning 11 Grand Slam titles since 2011 – more than his top rivals Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray – all of whom have cumulatively won 11 during the same period.

“He knocked the kings off. He knocked king Roger off. He knocked king Rafa off. He has been ahead of king Andy here in the UK, now Andy is coming back,” Cash told BBC.

Cash further adds that it’s perhaps the fact Djokovic comes from a relatively smaller country like Serbia that keeps him adrift of limelight.

“I do have some sympathy for him. He is from a smaller country compared to these nations and he is never going to be the favourite as far as personality wise or whateve,” he added.

“I think that is unfair because he is an unbelievable player.”
