NFL Injury Update: Green Probable, Moreno Eyes Week 6 Return

With Week 2 featuring more game-changing injuries than perhaps any other week in NFL history, several key players’ statuses are up in the air heading into Week 3 this weekend.

Some will play, some might play, and some simply have an update on when they possibly might return to action from a relatively serious injury.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was forced out of the team’s Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons with a toe/ligament injury. Although initial reports had him staying out until after the team’s Week 4 bye week, Green made progress during practice this week and has now been listed as probable for the Bengal’s Week 3 game against Tennessee.

Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno was dealt a serious blow in the form of a dislocated elbow in his team’s Week 2 loss to Buffalo. He was diagnosed as being out 6-8 weeks, but today, he said that he would likely be back around Week 6, meaning the lesser portion of his diagnosis proved true.

Injured since their team’s Week 1 loss to the Bills, Chicago Bears wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery are apparently still hurt. Marshall missed practice Friday and Jeffery was limited, but they both played in the bears’ comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. Expect them to do the same this week.

Kansas City Chiefs star running back Jamaal Charles left the Chiefs’ Week 2 loss to the Denver Broncos with what was supposed to be a high ankle sprain, but he was spotted back at practice yesterday. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said that Charles did “O.K.” today, not exactly the most glaring recommendation from management. Charles may play in his team’s Week 3 tilt against the Miami Dolphins, but he’ll be a game-time decision.

Washington Redskins wide receiver Desean Jackson is dealing with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. He missed practice yesterday and is listed as questionable for Washington’s Week 3 showdown with NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is leading the league in rushing, but he’s also been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury, an ailment that has plagued him repeatedly in the past. He’s listed as questionable for the Texans’ Week 2 trip into New York to take on the Giants.

Last but not least, San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen is listed as questionable for the Chargers’ Week 3 game in Buffalo. He got in a few increased reps on Friday, but his status is unknown as of right now.
