Highlights: Devin Hester Breaks Deion Sanders’ NFL All-Time Return TD Record

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rolled into the Georgia Dome to take on the Atlanta Falcons tonight (Thurs., September 18, 2014) in a must-win situation.

Under the guidance of new head coach Lovie Smith, the Bucs had dropped the first two games of the 2014 season to the Carolina Panthers and St. Louis Rams, and those games were at home.  They needed a win, but with several injuries to key players, their back was up against the wall.

Things only got worse, as Atlanta quickly jumped out to an early lead thanks in large to newly signed wide receiver/kick returner Devin Hester, who turned a Tampa Bay turnover into a fumble and recovery for the Falcons (courtesy of Vine):

Hester was only getting started, as he took a 17-yard reverse untouched in for a score (Vine):

But the best was yet to come from the former Chicago Bear. With the Deion “Prime Time” Sanders in the house for the game, Hester took this electric 62-yard punt return in for a score, breaking Sanders’ NFL record of 19 return touchdowns with his 20th (Vine):

Hester was overtaken by emotion with his accomplishment as he received congratulations from Atlanta head coach Mike Smith on the sidelines (Vine):

The Falcons took an incredible 35-0 lead into halftime. They continued the onslaught into the second half, as Matt Ryan found wide receiver Julio Jones on this insane 40-yard touchdown in the third quarter, one of three Atlanta touchdowns (Vine):

Atlanta was up 56-0 before the Buccaneers recorded two late touchdowns including an interception return. The Falcons won the game with a final score of 56-14.
