NFL: Preseason-Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Jacksonville Jaguars

Tonight (Thursday, August 28, 2014) in a week of largely inconsequential exhibition action in Week 4 of the 2014 NFL preseason, Jacksonville rookie quarterback kept his highlight reel rolling against the Atlanta Falcons.

After throwing his first NFL touchdown against the Detroit Lions last week, Bortles came in for some limited snaps tonight. He did the most with them, hitting fellow rookie Marquise Lee with a picture-perfect 57-yard touchdown (courtesy of SB Nation Gifs):

The No. 3 overall pick in May’s draft, Bortles will start the season as Chad Henne’s backup in Jacksonville. He was supposed to sit the entire season to learn under the veteran, but with plays like these becoming the norm, it shouldn’t be long before Bortles finds himself in the starting role.

In playoff-starved Jacksonville, should he already be there?
