“Casillas” The No. 1

Iker Casillas Played the highest number of football games as a European football player. Spain’s veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas playing down a record 167-match milestone in the warm-up match against South Korea.

However, Porto star is the Spain team’s second choice goalkeeper at now. David De Gia is the first chosen goalkeeper of La Roja. Wednesday (01 June), Casillas leaving behind the record of 166 matches played Latvia midfielder Vitalijs Astafjevs.


Casillas has passed golden time with the Spanish national team. Under his leadership, the team won 2010 World Cup. Also at 2008 and 2012 Euro Championship.


Casillas played Spain’s Under-15, 16, 17, 18, and U-20.  Making his National team debut against Sweden on June 3, 2000. Later, he was captained at 2008. As only the 3rd European won Champions League and Euro as a captain.

2015, 5 September Casillas record another milestone. 2016 Euro qualifiers against Slovakia and not conceded a goal and become 100 matches ‘clean sheet’ earned honor.

Europe’s top five matches’ players are, Casillas (167), Vitalijs Astafjevs (166), Gianluigi Buffon (157), Martin Reim (156) Lothar Matthews (150) and Andres Svensson (148).
