Zimbabwe beat Hong Kong by 89 runs

Zimbabwe was once in a great form but day by day they are demoted and currently standing outside of the ICC top ten ODI ranking. So, they have got the consequences as well. They are not in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 squad but scheduled to play Cricket World Cup Qualifier round with nine more teams. There are just two space left and best two teams from the qualifier round will get the chance to take part in the main event. Now, in their last in the tournament, Zimbabwe beat Hong Kong by 89 runs which would give them advantage to move to the next level.

Zimbabwe is currently standing on 11th position on ICC ODI ranking and after them Ireland which is standing on the 12th position. Besides, there are two more teams in the tournament which will break their World Cup dream. They are Afghanistan and West Indies. Afghanistan is in good form and standing in 10th position on ICC ODI ranking. So, team Zimbabwe has to be more careful if they want to secure their place in upcoming World Cup.

The match against Hong Kong was the 3rd match of Zimbabwe in the tournament and luck was with them. They won all three matches here and already qualified for the next playoff round. Playoff round is known as super six where from each group three teams will get chance. By winning three matches Zimbabwe got the chance so far. On the other hand, Hong Kong has played also three matches but won just once. Now they are depending on the 4th and last match but it would not certain that after winning the last match, they could get the next round ticket.

The match between Zimbabwe and Hong Kong was staged in 10th March, 2018 at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo. In the match, Hong Kong won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Zimbabwe came to open the match and scored 263 runs in exchange for nine wickets. They did play full overs where Hamilton Masakadza scored highest 84 runs for Zimbabwe. He faced 110 balls and made the score. Ehsan Nawaz took four wickets for Hong Kong.

Later, Hong Kong started to chase the score but facing batting disaster in the match. They played 46.5 overs and lost all wickets where they scored 174 runs totally. Anshuman Rath scored highest 85 runs for Hong Kong. For Zimbabwe Sikandar Raza took three wickets so far. So, Zimbabwe won by 89 runs against Hong Kong and secured their place to the next round.
