VIDEO: KL Rahul’s act of sportsmanship earns umpire’s applause during Sydney Test

KL Rahul may be going through a lean patch, having failed to put on a decent score all through India’s tour of Australia so far.

Yet, the opening batsman was in the limelight on Day 3 of the fourth Test being held in Sydney.

At the start of 15th over of Australia’s batting, Marcus Harris decided to take on left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja by lofting one over the mid on fielder. His attempt, however, failed as he couldn’t make a proper connection.

Instead, he almost handed a catch to KL Rahul, who ran forward before putting in a dive, only to catch it after the ball bounced off the ground.

Unaware, Jadeja and other started to celebrate the wicket before Rahul showed sportsmanship by quickly suggesting Harris was not out.

Umpire Ian Gould was so impressed with Rahul honesty that he clapped for a bit before showing thumbs up for saving some match time.

Meanwhile, play ended early on Saturday due to bad light, with Australia struggling 236-6 against India’s mammoth 622-run effort.
