Sri Lanka scored 294 runs in 1st innings

Sri Lanka cricket team is currently travelling India where they are scheduled to play a test series, a ODI series and a T20I series against Men in Blue. Each series consists of three matches and they have already started to play with the test competition. 4th day of the 1st test has successfully finished where Sri Lanka scored 294 runs in 1st innings. Though, 1st two days due to rain just less than 35 overs were staged totally and in 3rd day of the match team India got packet before the launch break. After that Sri Lanka came up and losing four wickets in the same day. They played almost half of fourth day of the match and scored 294 runs and lost all wickets. According to the latest news, India is in bat for the second innings.

Sri Lanka scored 294 runs in 1st innings

Samarawickrama and Karunaratne opened the Lions innings but their partnership did not last long. First breakthrough came up by Kumar when he took Karunaratne. Top orders of the team played well though due to rain earlier, the ground was turned to the bowling favoured and so, batsmen did not get much from the ground. It was tough to face balls there. But Thirimanne and Mathews both played well in the tough condition and scored fifty each. Later, skipper Chandimal and Dickwella tried to add some runs.

Chandimal scored 28 runs where Dickwella scored 35 runs for the team Lions. Among lower orders, Herath played very well. He scored highest 67 runs for the team. Finally, they lost all wickets by scoring 294 runs. But in the meantime, Sri Lanka lead by 122 runs so far. Among Indian bowlers, Kumar and Mohammed Shami took four wickets each. Yadav took two wickets as well.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and let India to bat first. Due to heavy rain in Kolkata, 1st two days the match was almost stopped but in the 3rd day bowlers took advantage packet India with mere runs. Except Pujara, first six batsmen did not score double figure runs. Pujara scored highest 52 runs for the team. Lower orders added just few runs and so, they ended up with 172 runs in 59.3 overs. For Sri Lanka, Lakmal took highest four wickets so far.

Excluding the first test, this two teams will play two more tests. After that they will play a ODI series and a T20I series as well.
