South Africa cricket team is one of the most powerful team in cricket World and now, they are touring Sri Lanka. The main purpose was to play a Test series against Sri Lanka but a Test was replaced by ODI and T20I tournament. Besides, the ODI and T20I tournaments will be the preparation match for upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Earlier, this South Africa played two days tour match against Sri Lanka Board XI and then played two Test. Sri Lanka won the Test series by 2 – 0. Now, they have the ODI schedule ahead and South Africa once again played a 50 overs tour match against Sri Lanka Board XI. In the match, South Africa won by 63 runs against the first class team.

South Africa which is commonly known as Proteas is the very balanced team in ODI and Test format. But at the away venue, they faced two heartbroken Tests defeat. The Test series consisted of two matches so far. Now, they are trying to win the ODI series which consists of five matches.

In 26th July, 2018 the 50 overs tour match between South Africa and Sri Lanka Board XI took place and the host venue was P. Sara Oval, Colombo. In the match Proteas won the toss and let the first class team to bowl first.

De Kock and Amla started the innings for Proteas where the opening partnership was broken before opening the run account. De Kock faced three bowls and returned to the dressing room with 0 runs. Later, Amla and captain Du Plessis played a bit. In 29 runs Amla was gone as well. Just three runs later, 3rd wicket Markram followed the same way. Top orders did not play well in the match but middle orders did their job. Duminy scored 19 runs, Miller scored 40 runs, Hendricks scored 59 runs and Mulder scored 56 runs for the team. Besides, the captain Du Plessis scored highest 71 runs so far. They failed to play full 50 overs but in 49.4 overs team Proteas scored 293 runs losing all wickets. Peiris, Jayasuriya and Fernando took two wickets each for the team Sri Lanka Board XI.

Later, the opponent team failed to chase the score though couple of players played well. Karunaratne scored 50 runs, De Silva scored 36 runs and Udana scored 53 runs for the team. In 44.1 overs team Sri Lanka Board XI lost all wickets and scored 230 runs so far.
