South Africa drawn the tour match at Colombo

South Africa cricket team which is also known as the Proteas is recently touring Sri Lanka and the purpose of their tour is to play a complete duel tournament there against the local team Sri Lanka. The main schedule was to play three matches Test series but finally the 3rd Test was dropped and replaced by the ODI and T20I series. Ahead of their Test series, team South Africa played a two days tour match against Sri Lanka Board XI earlier. South Africa drawn the tour match at Colombo against the first class team.

However, by replacing 3rd Test, they will play a five matches ODI series and a T20I match against Sri Lanka. Besides, the ODI schedule would be also a preparation for upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

The tour match against Sri Lanka Board XI started in 7th July, 2018 at P. Sara Oval, Colombo. In the match, Sri Lanka Board XI won the toss and let South AFrica to bowl first. So, Gunathilaka and Silva started the innings for the team Board XI. Openers added 84 runs when Gunathilaka was gone. He scored 53 runs so far. Another opener Silva scored 76 runs. Besides, 1st down player De Silva scored 28 runs and captain Mathews scored highest 92 runs. Among rest players, just one made a double figure runs but rest were failed completely. So, by playing 78.2 overs team Sri Lanka Board XI scored 287 runs totally. Bowlers of the Proteas bowled well and Shamsi took highest five wickets and Berg took two wickets for the team.

Later, South Africa came to bat for the first innings. Elgar and Markram opened the innings where in 1 run, Markram was gone. He failed to open run account. Elgar scored 43 runs so far. Among top orders, Amla played well but took retired out. He scored 78 runs so far. Besides, Bavuma and captain Du Plessis played jointly where Bavuma scored 58 runs and Du Plessis scored highest 79 runs so far. Most of the players of Proteas team got runs. In 73.5 overs team South Africa lost all wickets and scored 338 runs. There were no time for the 2nd innings and so, the match was announced as the draw. De Silva took three wickets where Ambuldeniya and Silva took two wickets each for the team Sri Lanka. The official Test series between them will start in 12th July, 2018.
