Shikhar Dhawan Elucidates the Difference between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli’s Captaincy

There has been a long debate whether Virat Kohli will be taking over the captaincy reigns from MS Dhoni or not in the near future. The latter’s palm injury of late gave a golden prospect to the latter, who capitalized by leading the Indian team to a 5-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka in the recently-concluded One-Day International series at home.

Furthermore, Kohli also got an opportunity to make his debut as the Test skipper for the first of the 4-match Test series against Australia that was scheduled to begin from December 4 in Brisbane. However, with the series opener being postponed to December 9 in Adelaide, Kohli might just have to hang around for Test leadership, as regular skipper Dhoni is projected to be fit first for the first encounter.

The debate has been up in the recent times as to Kohli should share captaincy across different formats with Dhoni or not. But, what separates the duo’s leadership skills. Here’s what Indian batsman, Shikhar Dhawan, has to say…

“Both are aggressive captains. But there is a certain difference. Virat is a lot more charged up on the field. It is enjoyable playing under both of them. It might be a longer wait for Virat to lead India in Test cricket since Dhoni is here now,” says Dhawan, as quoted by Outlook India.
