Scotland and papua New Guinea is currently playing ICC World Cricket League Championship where in their last meeting, Papua New Guinea destroyed Scotland by five wickets. The match was ODI which was staged at Amini Park, Port Moresby. Scotland won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 203 runs. But, five wickets in hand, PNG reached the destination. So, Scotland lost against Papua New Guinea by 5 wickets at Port Moresby finally.

This tournament consists of two years and like before, it started in 2015. Basically, ICC World Cricket League Championship is the 2nd edition of limited overs version of ICC Intercontinental Cup. Since 2015 the tournament is ongoing. Earlier, Ireland and Afghanistan played here but they are promoted to the One Day International ranking table and left the tournament. Instead of them, Kenya and Nepal are added here now.

In 8th October, 2017 45th number match has been staged. It was between Papua New Guinea and Scotland. Scotland came to bat by winning the toss. Scottish openers started very bwell and made 46 runs partnership. By when captain Coetzer got run out by Siaka. He scored just 22 runs. Cross who was just the another opener tried to make another partnership but rest three batsmen were out within just 20 runs. But also Cross stayed still at the end of the crease. He scored highest 91 runs for the team but he deserved better. No players could make any good companion with him. Just Coetzer and Munsey scored 22 runs each. So, in 49.2 overs, Scotland lost their all wickets by scoring 203 runs so far. For Papua New Guinea, Vanua, Reva and Dai took two wickets each.

PNG openers started the game very well. They took 44 runs in 8.4 overs. The run rate was awesome. But unfortunately Morea who was one of the two PNG opener gave a simple catch and returned to the dressing room. Later, Siaka tried to stay a little longer but was out with his individual 15 runs. They lost their top order two batsmen in 44 runs. In 3rd wicket partnership, they added 40 runs to the board. Vala played well who is the captain of the team currently. Bau came up but no better. Dai took the lead after and scored highest 63 runs for the team. Finally in 48 overs, Papua New Guinea able to score 204 runs by losing five wickets and won the match. For Scotland, Evans took highest two wickets.
