New Zealand won 1st T20I against Windies

New Zealand won consecutive two series against West Indies where team Windies is currently travelling New Zealand where they were scheduled to play a Test, a ODI and a T20 series against Black Caps. The ODI and Test series have finished quite successfully and in both cases, team New Zealand whitewash West Indies. Their T20 series started in 29th December, 2017 where New Zealand won 1st T20I against Windies. So, Black Caps is currently leading the series. The T20I series consists of three matches and to secure the series, Black Caps needs to win one more match.

New Zealand won 1st T20I against Windies

In 29th December, 2017 at Saxton Oval, Nelson the first T20I match between New Zealand and West Indies was taken place where West Indies won the toss and decided to field first. It was the first match which was hosted at the venue of Saxton Oval where two Black Caps players made their T20I debut named Anaru Kitchen and Seth Rance. Besides, Shai Hope was also a Windies player to make his T20I debut through the match. Besides, Tim Southee made his T20I debut as captain.

In the match, New Zealand started to bat by losing the toss. Black Caps presented 187 bruns milestone in front of New Zealand by playing complete 20 overs. They lost seven wickets to make the score. Glenn Phillips scored highest 55 runs for Black Caps. However, on the other hand West Indies got packet by scoring 140 runs. They played 19 overs and lost their all wickets. Andre Fletcher scored highest 27 runs for Windies. So, New Zealand won the match by 47 runs and took lead of the T20I series.

Came to bat, Guptill and Munro started the innings for the Black Caps. But in five runs Guptill was gone who scored five runs only. Later in the 2nd wicket partnership between Munro and Phillips, they added more than 85 runs to the scoreboard and led the team to a handsome total. Both of the achieved half century each in their innings. Munro scored 53 runs and Phillips scored 55 runs so far. Later, some other players tried to add some runs but they did not do much score just few more runs. So, at the end of 20 overs, New Zealand did able to present 187 runs target in front of Windies. Taylor and Brathwaite took two wickets for the team Windies.

In return, Wet Indies players made mistakes and no one could able to make long score or a good partnership and as a result, their innings finished with 140 runs.
