New Zealand continued their fine run in the second Test match in Dubai after a supreme bowling performance from the visitors reduced Pakistan to 281-6 at stumps on Wednesday.

Resuming from the overnight score of 34-2, the hosts got off to a flying start from Azhar Ali (75) and Younis Khan (72). The duo amassed 113 runs for the 3rd wicket, and set a strong stage for the other batsmen.

However, Pakistan could not get going thereafter, losing wickets at regular intervals. Even captain Misbah-ul-Haq (28) could not stand firm against the new ball from Trent Boult.

Asad Shafiq (44) also failed to hold on his nerves as he surrendered to Tim Southee in the penultimate over of the day.

At 281-6, Pakistan still trail by 122 runs in the first innings. Sarfraz Ahmed (28*) and Yasir Shah (1*) are unbeaten at the crease.

Earlier, New Zealand had piled up 403 runs in the first innings.
