Maxwell dropped from ODI Squad

After the loss in the first Test of Sri Lanka tour, Australia is preparing themselves for the second test. In the meantime, Australia Cricked board announced the five-match ODI series squad against Sri Lanka.

Glenn Maxwell, one of the best batsmen in the one-day will miss the series. Scott Boland and Travis Head also dropped with this 27-year-old star.

Steven Smith continued leading as usual. Moises Henriques and Shaun Marsh entered the squad.

Maxwell also played on last against tri-national series against West Indies and South Africa. On that series, G-Max took 3 wickets with the ball but he was a flop with the bat. Scored 4, 46*, 3 and 0 in 4 innings. Another match, he had not to play.

Maxwell made his debut at 2012 in one-day internationals. Since then, he played almost all the ODI matches for Australia. He is dropped out for the first time for performance issue. So far played 67 matches for Australia. With 125.7 strike rate Maxwell scored 1 centuries and 13 half-centuries.

Steven Smith (captain), David Warner, George Bailey, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Marsh, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Matthew Wade, Moises Henriques, Shaun Marsh, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Adam Jampa.


Australia will play the first ODI against Sri Lanka on August 21. Next, 3 matches will be held respectively 24, 28 and 31 August. And on last ODI’s Sri Lanka and Australia will be on the field at 4th September. Two T-20s of the series will be held on 06 and 09 September.
